Quite simply, we believe that if we take care of the land that we farm and our surrounding environment it will help take care of us. But, we realize the practice of sustainability is much more complex than that. Toward that end, and as members of the California Tomato Farmers (CTF), we are working to develop a tomato sustainability definition and cultivate aggressive, yet realistic standards and goals.

The CTF states, "There are any number of Sustainability Projects that CTF is monitoring for our members. We are part of the Sustainability Index, serving on multiple committees, tasked with developing metrics that could at some point be used much like 3rd party food safety audits. We're also one of a number of groups in the San Joaquin Valley who have come together to form alley an ad-hoc group that would seek Specialty Grant Funds to develop programs for individuals and multiple commodities."
